US Congress, White House Urged to End Ethnic Cleansing in Gaza Strip

US Muslim advocacy group hailed a recent Albany Common Council resolution demanding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, urging that Congress and the US administration do the same.

The New York Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), on Saturday welcomed the Albany Common Council’s passing of a Ceasefire Resolution working in collaboration with the Albany Muslim Advocacy Coalition representing Albany’s Muslim, Arab and Palestinian communities and with members of the Albany chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace.

The resolution has been under discussion since November accompanied by public demonstrations held outside City Hall to pressure a vote.

In a statement, CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher said: “CAIR-NY continues to demand an end to the ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza. The Albany Common Council took a critical step in its support for a permanent ceasefire. We call on Congress and the White House to do the same and end the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.”
